LESSON 2 - Rahab
RAHAB: Shameful prostitute and liar, yet family intercessor and covert cooperative to God’s plans …
Life synopsis … Rahab was well known and established in her community – she was a prostitute. Although her life was shameful, in her heart she had reverence for God (ref Joshua 2:11). God saw her heart, looking beyond her outward veneer (ref 1 Samuel 16:7). As a result, she, too, is listed in the bloodline of Jesus Christ.
Read this ... Joshua 2, Joshua 6:12-25, Hebrews 11:30-31, James 2:14-26
Key verse … The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
1 Samuel 16:7b NIV © 2011
Let’s practice … What shameful character flaws or wrong behavior patterns could be said about you? How can you follow Rahab’s example and be transformed into a woman yielded to God’s plan and purpose?

5 Women of Genealogy-Instructions & Lesson 1
Instructions
The reading portions for this study will largely come from the Bible itself. We will consider one woman in each lesson. These women are listed by name in the bloodline of Jesus Christ (ref Matthew 1:1-17). Since little more than their name is mentioned in the genealogy, the “Read this…” section will refer you to their specific stories found elsewhere in the Bible.
The study is organized as follows:
Name and personal description
Life synopsis
Read this … (Bible reading)
Key verse
Let’s practice …
As we take a closer look at each of these women’s lives, imagine as though the words were written about you. How would you feel? What decisions would you have made? Then consider your life. How have your experiences been similar or different? What can you apply to your life from God’s Word?
LESSON 1 - Tamar
TAMAR: Widow turned seductress, yet used of God in the bloodline of His Son, Jesus Christ …
Life synopsis … Tamar’s life is marked twice by widowhood, deception and the difficult delivery of two sons. Yet we see that she was one of only five women listed in the bloodline of Jesus Christ.
Read this ... Genesis 38, Romans 8:28
Key verse … And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28 NIV © 2011
Let’s practice … What event(s) mark your life up to this point? How do you think God could use this to fulfill Romans 8:28 in your life?
Please feel free to make note of your thoughts, insights gained or words that could encourage others also walking through this study ...
Many Blessings ...
