Ahhh … the warmth of the setting sun was soaking into my skin as I drove down the road. I welcomed the opportunity to slip out of the house to run a quick errand, hoping this would help me transition from the busy work day into the evening’s activities. It had been a demanding day which left my mind whirling. As a result I navigated my route almost on auto pilot.
Suddenly, I looked around and took note of where I was as compared it to where I intended to be … I had taken the wrong turn! My mind immediately thrust forward in over drive searching for an alternate, yet quick remedy. Within a few moments a new route was established and I realized this was even better than my initial plan.
In that moment these words returned to me:
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.
Psalm 84:11 NIV
Ever faithful to His Word He caused me to establish a better route than I had originally intended to take. Not only did He provide the beauty of the setting sun to comfort me, He also ordered my steps, leading me just to where I needed to go.
Ok, so I’m sure that may be a little silly to some of you natives of this area. But for me, I’m still learning to navigate here. And I just revel in the goodness of the Lord, how He reveals Himself even in the minute details of life. I do hope your navigation ability is better than mine as you manage daily tasks, but I pray the Lord Jesus Christ is your ultimate GPS as you travel through life’s journey.
Where has He led you in His Word lately? I’d love to hear about it!
“… I want not only to share my faith with you but to be encouraged by yours: each of us will be a blessing to the other.”
Romans 12:1b the Message
Blessings ...
